A Cultural Christian has contrived a personal set of values by which they judge themselves acceptable before God. Cultural Christianity is impotent and has little or no impact on the values and beliefs of society. The Cultural Christian tends to have a shallow understanding of God and thus pursue the God they want rather than the God who is. These people refer to themselves as Christians saying they believe in the existence of God; yet are confused about Who God is (a person, place or thing).

Those who do not hold a biblical worldview do not perceive themselves "as sinners separated from God."
They may have a mental list of acceptable and unacceptable behavior in their mind that qualifies them as a good moral person of value, rather than a bad, evil, worthless or lost person.

Those who are not biblically knowledgeable do not understand God’s absolute standards.
They may not believe there is absolute truth. They may go to church on occasion or believe church attendance establishes that they are Christians. They may be moved to pray when they have a need and perhaps have been baptized as a child or adult. They may believe in heaven and hell but have no understanding of who the Biblical Jesus is. They do not realize that salvation comes through Jesus alone and He (God in the flesh) makes salvation available for all who choose to follow Him.

: Become a seeker for "truth." There is a vast difference between acknowledging the existence of God than having a relationship with Him. ". . . you shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free" (John 8:32).

Webster’s dictionary says a Christian is a believer in the Biblical Jesus Christ as Savior, a believer in the historical and divine significance of Jesus Christ and follower of his teaching and example.

There are three general sources of revelation to mankind. Failure or neglect to accurately educate oneself in all three areas is at one’s eternal peril.

1.) Creation – The One True God is the one who created the universe, everything that exists within it, including mankind. Therefore, by observing what has been created, we observe that the Creator God is certainly Almighty - all powerful - and all knowing.

2.) Bible – The Bible is unique among books, it has no equal. There is no belief system that even compares to true Christianity as revealed in the Bible. In this book God has revealed His will, His plan and His purpose for man and man’s eternal destiny. In the Bible God says, " . . .those who diligently seek me, will find me" (Proverbs 8:17). "Jesus Christ is the same, yesterday, today, and forever" ( Hebrews 13:8). 2

3.) Person of Jesus - In the Person of Jesus, mankind is given the clearest picture of God that is given to humanity and the WAY to have a right relationship with God. Jesus said. . . . , "I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me. (John 14:6).

TO GO TO HEAVEN? The following acrostic is taken in part from an article in the

Apologetics Study Bible.

Think about how the Bible answers this question -

It is by FAITH in God the Son, Jesus Christ. " . . ..whoever believes in Him (Jesus) should not perish but have eternal life. 16For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son (Jesus), that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life. 17For God did not send His Son into the world to condemn the world, but that the world through Him might be saved. 18"He who believes in Him is not condemned; but he who does not believe is condemned already, because he has not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God" (John 3:15-18).

F is for FORGIVENESS - We cannot have eternal life and heaven without God’s forgiveness. "In Him (Jesus) we have redemption through His blood, the forgiveness of sins . . ." (Ephesians 1:7).

A Is for AVAILABLE - Forgiveness is available. It is – Available for all. "For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life" (John 3:16).

But not automatic. "Not everyone who says to Me, "Lord, Lord,‟shall enter the kingdom of heaven, but he who does the will of My Father in heaven" (Matthew 7:21).

I is for IMPOSSIBLE - It is impossible for God to allow sin into heaven.

Because of who He is: God is loving and just. His judgment is against sin. "For judgment is without mercy to the one who has shown no mercy" (James 2:13).

T is for TURN - Turn means repent.

Turn from something: ". . . .but unless you repent you will all likewise perish"( Luke 13:3). "The Lord is . . . not wishing for any to perish but for all to come to repentance" (2 Peter 3:9).

Turn to Someone: Trust Christ only. "I am the door. If anyone enters by Me, he will be saved . . ." ( John 10:9). "Nor is there salvation in any other, for there is no other name under heaven given among men by which we must be saved" (Acts 4:12).

H is for HEAVEN - Heaven is eternal life.

Here and now: ". . . I have come that they may have life, and that they may have it more abundantly."( John 10:10).

Hereafter : "And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again and receive you to Myself; that where I am, there you may be also" (John 14:3).

How can a person have -

God’s forgiveness,

heaven and eternal life, and

Jesus as personal Savior and Lord?

By trusting and turning to Christ and asking Him for forgiveness.

Lord Jesus,

I know I am a sinner and have displeased You in many ways. I believe you died for my sin and that it is only through faith in Your death, and resurrection that I can be forgiven.

I want to turn from my sin and ask You to come into my life as my Savior and Lord. From this day on, I will follow You by living a life that pleases You. Thank You Lord Jesus for saving me. Amen
